PDF/UA checks, safe repairs, clear evidence

Check your PDF accessibility for free.

Fix technical PDF/UA issues automatically.
Review only what needs human judgment.

No account required. We repair what we can safely. It cannot guarantee accessibility. A person still needs to check meaning and reading order. You see the actual before-and-after result and exact price before you pay.

For communications teams and agencies: start with a text-based PDF that already has accessibility tags — its reading structure. Scans are outside our scope. We never sell a result without a reading structure.

Free check: €0. Files and review tools: €0.29/page, €2.90 minimum, VAT included. A specialist's review is not included.

PDF ACCESSIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Do you publish PDF documents online?

Accessibility requirements apply to many public-sector documents and to documents in certain consumer services. The publisher, service, publication date and purpose determine which duties apply.

PDFAccess checks a PDF for free, fixes supported technical issues and shows what still needs human review. A machine PDF/UA result is not a legal assessment and cannot by itself establish full accessibility.

Check the applicable case in Traficom's guidance or read the PDF accessibility workflow.

THE WORK BEHIND PDF ACCESSIBILITY

What does PDF remediation normally involve?

A specialist inspects the tag tree, headings, lists, tables, links, reading order, images, metadata and language; then validates, corrects remaining findings and performs semantic quality assurance.

  • Logical heading hierarchy
  • Reading order and semantic relationships
  • Complex table meaning
  • Final assistive-technology and content review

EARLY ACCESS PRICING

A clear price for the automated part.

A 20-page PDF costs €5.80. This covers supported automatic processing, self-service review tools and evidence. You or your specialist still perform the semantic review.

Askem uses about 30 minutes per document as a manual-work planning estimate. That is the provider's own benchmark, not a promise of your time saved. Source: Askem, checked 8 September 2026.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Straight answers before you upload.

What is PDF/UA?

PDF/UA is an ISO standard for accessibility in PDF structure. It defines technical requirements that help assistive technology interpret a PDF.

Does a validator PASS mean the PDF is fully accessible?

No. A veraPDF pass means its machine-detectable PDF/UA-1 checks passed. A person must still assess meaning, reading order, headings and descriptions.

What can PDFAccess fix automatically?

It applies deterministic repairs to supported metadata, annotation and existing document-structure problems. It shows every actual result rather than promising that every PDF can be fixed.

What still needs a person?

Image descriptions, heading sense, reading order, complex tables and final semantic quality need human judgment.

Do I need an account?

No. A signed, private browser session protects your job without registration or email.

How much does it cost?

The check and result preview are free. Unlocking the review workflow, processed PDF and evidence costs €0.29 per page, with a €2.90 document minimum. Pricing may change as the service develops.

What happens if my PDF cannot be fixed?

Unsupported and failed documents are not offered for purchase. The result explains the limitation, and your original remains unchanged.

How long are files stored?

The service is configured to delete job files after 24 hours, or you can delete them immediately. Live infrastructure backups are still being documented, so do not upload third-party personal data during Early Access.

Where are files processed?

On PDFAccess's Azure server in Sweden Central, within the EU.

Does PDFAccess use AI?

The current production engine does not send documents to an AI service. Its repairs are deterministic and validation uses veraPDF.

Does PDFAccess modify my original file?

No. The uploaded original is preserved byte for byte; repairs are written to a separate copy.
